As often in Mira's work, the voices will be disintegrated and rewoven together, projecting from fixed as well as portable speakers, carried around the space by dancers. The sung text is a poem by writer and First World War nurse Mary Borden, directed at an unnamed soldier. Taking place from 4-11 November, the installation will evolve over four hours from 5pm, as thousands of flames spread throughout the space.
It is a great honour to be involved in this work, especially after the great time we had collaborating with Mira at Snape Maltings with The Discovery of Bomarzo for the Aldeburgh Festival.
